PINCIPLE FUNCTION:
The pastor is responsible to the church to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, to teach the biblical revelation, to engage in pastoral care ministries, to provide administrative leadership in all areas of church life, and to act as the chief administrator of the paid staff.
FROM SCRIPTURE, WE UNDERSTAND THAT THERE ARE FOUR ROLES BORN BY THE SHEPHERD.
THEY ARE: LEADER,FEEDER,PROTECTOR,AND SEEKER OF THE SHEEP.
1. Leader of the flock by planning and conducting the worship services;preparing and delivering sermons Sunday morning, Sunday evening and mid-week prayer/bible study service; leading in observance of ordinances. Isaiah 63:11;Jeremiah 23:4; Numbers 27:16-18.
2. Feeding and protecting the flock by leading the church in an effective program of witnessing and in a caring ministry for persons in the church community.
3. Seek the flock by visiting members and prospects (evangelism). Minister to the sick in hospitals and nursing homes.
4. Conduct counseling sessions; prepare for and conduct wedding ceremonies and funerals.
5. Administer office responsibilities, including the preparation of bulletins, newsletters and financial reports.
6. Supervise the church staff and other church employees.
7. Meet with all church committees as exofficio.
8. Meet with the deacons in their regular meetings and conduct training as needed.
9. Prepare for and serve as moderator of church business meetings.
10. Cooperate with the association state and demoninational leaders in matters of mutual interest and concerns.
11. Attend church functions (as reasonable).
