PURPOSE: To serve the church by developing, coordinating, and administering educational ministries for children (Pre-K through grade 5) of the church.ACCOUNTABILITY: Accountable to the Pastor and the Session through the Personnel Committee.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate Sunday School Program for ages Pre-K through grade 5.
Develop and coordinate mid-week after school ministry for grade Pre-K through fifth grade.
Recruit and train volunteers to fill supporting roles in children's ministries.
Review and select curriculum materials and educational tools for children's ministries.
Responsible for planning and implementing Vacation Bible School and additional summer ministries.
Work with other members of the church staff to provide a well-rounded program of teaching, music and recreation for children of the church.
Assist in developing and implementing programs to reach children and their families.
Develop relationships within the community that will strengthen the church's ministry to children and their families.
Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies, purchasing supplies as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
Must possess an understanding of the child's faith development with the goal to prepare all children to receive Christ, to become communicant members of the church and to eventually transition into the youth ministry.
Must be able to relate to children and families.
Must have strong organizational skills.
Must have the ability to recruit, train, and encourage teachers, volunteers, and parents to minister to children in grades Pre-K through grade
Possess excellent communication skills using the appropriate mediums such as email, telephone, letters, and face-to-face communications.
Flexibility to a variety of changing events, schedules, and priorities.
Minimum Education and Experience:
A committed Christian with:
A minimum of 3 years experience in Children's Christian Education, Elementary Education or Childcare Administration.
A minimum of 2 years college required. A Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education or Christian Education is preferred.
Must submit to and pass background screening, including criminal and drug testing.
Evaluation:
Performance reviews will be conducted by the Pastor with the Personnel Committee. The Personnel Committee will annually review the adequacy of the compensation package and make recommendations to the Session outlined in the Personnel Policy.
Salary and Terms of Employment:
Salary -- $13,000.00 per year.
Two weeks of annual vacation leave.
Six days of paid sick leave.
